The Sunday, October 19, 2008 Campus-To-Campus 5K Road Race (3.1 miles) will begin at WestConn’s Westside Campus on Lake Avenue Extension and finish at WestConn’s Midtown Campus on White Street. Start times: runners at 8:30 a.m.; fitness walkers at 8:35 a.m.
Race Route:
The certified course is as follows: University Boulevard, Lake Avenue Ext., Lake Avenue, West Street, Main Street, Liberty Street, Patriot Drive and White Street. Live music and water stations will be positioned along the race course. Shuttle buses will transport participants back to the registration and parking area after the race. Strollers are welcome!
Registration Fee:
$20 per person ($25 after the October 7 pre-registration deadline.) Participation for WestConn students is free. Race day registration available-only pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative race T-shirt.
Race Divisions:
Prizes will be awarded in the following divisions: Men’s Open-1st, 2nd, 3rd, Women’s Open-1st, 2nd, 3rd, top WestConn student male/female, top WestConn employee male/female, top WestConn alumni male/female, most creative use of WestConn colors (navy blue and copper).
Kid’s Race:
The ½ mile Kid’s Race will take place at WestConn’s Westside Campus. Start time: 8:00 a.m. The Kid’s Race is FREE, no pre-registration required. All participants will receive a prize.
Event Proceeds:
To benefit WestConn student fitness and wellness programs: to purchase fitness equipment, provide health seminars, sponsor wellness activities on campus, etc.
