The Sunday, October 7, 2012, Campus-to-Campus 5K Road Race (3.1 miles) will begin at the WCSU Westside campus on Lake Ave. Extension and finish at the university's Midtown campus on White Street. Start times: runners at 9 a.m.; fitness walkers at 9:05 a.m. Race day registration from 7:30–8:45 a.m. Chip timing by The Last Mile Racing.
Race Route:
The certified course is as follows: University Boulevard, Lake Avenue Ext., Lake Avenue, West Street, Main Street, White Street. Water stations will be positioned along the race course. Shuttle buses will transport participants back to the registration and parking area after the race. Strollers are welcome!
Registration Fee:
$25 per person ($30 after the Sept. 28 pre-registration deadline.) New Balance Tech Shirt and race bag to the first 125 pre-registered runners or walkers. Participation is free for Western students. A $10 fee applies to students for New Balance Tech Shirt. Race day registration is available.
Sponsor-a-Student: For an additional $15, you can sponsor a student runner to help defray the cost of student participation.Race Divisions:
Prizes will be awarded in the following divisions: Men's Open: 1st, 2nd, 3rd; Women's Open: 1st, 2nd, 3rd; top WestConn student male/female; top WestConn employee male/female; top WestConn alumni male/female; most creative use of WestConn colors (navy blue and copper). One prize per winning participant.
Event Proceeds:
Event proceeds to benefit WestConn student fitness and wellness programs by purchasing fitness equipment, providing health seminars and sponsoring wellness activities on campus.
