Julius Baker Flute Master Class

The 32nd Annual Julius Baker Flute Master Class is a 5-night, 6-day intensive workshop for flutists of all ages. Participants may attend as performers or auditors, and may commute or reside at Western Connecticut State University. Housing is provided in Fairfield Hall and meals are served in the student cafeteria located in the Student Center.

Yamaha provides prizes for the top three participants who will join the flute choirs in a performance the last night of the class. The Julius Baker Flute Master Class is a wonderful opportunity to study with the best-known teachers in the world.

All applications must include:

• a $100.00 deposit-refunded only to students who are not accepted as performers.

• A brief resume of playing experience.

• Performers must include an recording of at least 10 minutes containing 3 pieces or excerpts of contrasting styles. At least one selection must be accompanied by piano.

• Day auditors do not have to pre-register Application Deadlines: Performers: May 15,2012 Auditors: June 15,2012

Classes:

The classes will consist of 10 three-hour master classes, as well as ensemble classes conducted by Vanita Jones. The event will conclude with a concert and Yamaha will give awards to the to the top players chosen by the class.

Repertory: Linda Mark is the accompanist for the classes. Any flute repertoire is acceptable including orchestral excerpts. Performers can expect to play at least 3 times.

 

Additional information will be sent with your notification of acceptance. Balance of tuition is due by June 15,2012.
