Center for Business Research

The Center for Business Research (CBR) at Western Connecticut State University was founded in 1997. The CBR serves the research needs of many groups, including students, faculty, regional businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Its purposes are:

  • To provide undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to become involved in a wide variety of research activities in business and related areas. These research areas include, but are not limited to, the following: security and information assurance, marketing, law, information systems, operations, finance, accounting, human resources, and economics.
  • To develop academic foundations for advanced study in research for business and related areas.
  • To provide faculty with the opportunity to integrate applied research into courses.
  • To provide faculty with additional avenues to enhance their research and intellectual contributions.
  • To develop relationships among the departments at WCSU through multidisciplinary research projects. The CBR provides a mechanism for collaborative research, and engages faculty from departments throughout the university when interdisciplinary research projects arise.
  • To provide local and regional organizations with research services. Since the emphasis of the CBR is on applied research, outside organizations are the primary source of research projects.
  • To provide faculty and students with an opportunity to use the most recent research technologies.

The purposes of the CBR are consistent with the missions of Western Connecticut State University and the Connecticut State University system. The CBR promotes student and faculty achievement, encourages multidisciplinary perspectives, concentrates on applied research, and utilizes current technologies.
