Fall Opening Meeting with Faculty and Staff - August 28, 2008
I am pleased to welcome the best faculty in the Connecticut State System back to campus after what I trust was as enjoyable summer. When I arrived two years ago, the university was in the process of creating the Strategic Plan for WCSU under the leadership of Dr. James Schmotter. This plan was designed to insure the continuing success and accomplishments of WCSU in the decades ahead.
Last year, Beth Amyot, our former CFO, and Dr. Ellen Durnin outlined the initial accomplishments under this plan. Dr. Walter Bernstein and I have now assumed the responsibilities for providing the leadership to see that this important plan continues. Dr. Bernstein, would you please join me? Dr. Bernstein and I would like to briefly outline for you some highlights of accomplishments of this past academic year.

I would encourage you to view the website for the Strategic Plan. There you will find all of the recorded accomplishments for the Academic Year 2007-2008 and you will see the schedule of meetings and important dates planned for the Academic Year 2008-2009.
Though our year ahead will be filled with many challenges, both Dr. Bernstein and I stand here to assure you that the WCSU Strategic Plan will continue to guide our important work for the academic year.
Now, it is our great pleasure to introduce to you our president, Dr. James Schmotter.
