What is a Provost?
The Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost is the chief academic administrator at Western Connecticut State University and responsible for all aspects of the academic mission—from recruitment of students to the administration of the schools and other units that are central to the academic enterprise. The Provost collaborates with the President in setting academic priorities and provides leadership for the school and college deans and their faculties.

Welcome to Western Connecticut State University, and thank you for choosing to be a part of our community of learners.
Having recently joined Western as its provost and academic vice president, I look forward to continuing leadership that constantly provides challenging academic programs that will prepare you for the challenges of the knowledge-based economy and our global society.
Ours is a great institution that continues to be a dynamic public university of choice for programs of excellence in the liberal arts and professions. Whether you are interested in meteorology, nursing, computer information security, history, political science, writing, justice and law, business or teaching, we have the program to help you meet your goal and they are designed with you in mind.
I am excited about our new building to house the School of Visual and Performing Arts on the university’s Westside campus. This latest addition to our growing campus will provide even more choices as you map out your future at Western.
