Evan R. Bernstein '98
BA, Social Work

Evan Bernstein is currently the National Director of Development for The David Project based in Boston, MA. He is responsible for leading all of the organization’s fundraising programs and initiatives.

His extensive professional experience includes Director of Major and Planned Gifts for the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation in Arizona and Executive Director with the international fundraising consulting firm CCS, Inc. Bernstein also ran all state operations as the Arizona Director for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. In 2006 he was featured in the Arizona Business Journal’s Power Book because of his executive work in the Phoenix non-profit community.

Bernstein received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the School of Professional Studies in 1998. He resides in Brookline, MA, with his wife, Heidi, and daughter, Sadie.

Evan is the National Director of Development for the David Project Center for Jewish Leadership based in Boston, Mass. In this role he is responsible for leading all of the organization’s national fundraising, marketing and public relations programs. Since being hired in 2007, Evan has successfully managed the annual campaign and has developed and implemented numerous new fundraising initiatives. These include new volunteer led development committees in Boston and New York and a donor prospect house/office party program. Also, Evan has led the marketing team’s creation of new marketing materials and has helped with the organizational re-branding of “Educating Voices for Israel.”

His background includes over 12 years of professional nonprofit experience. As an Executive Director for the international fundraising consulting firm CCS, Inc. based in New York, he oversaw multiple east coast projects. This included a Camden Maine YMCA $1.5 million capital campaign and a $3 million feasibility study for the Advanced Medical Technology Association in Washington D.C. As the Arizona Director for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, he managed two boards (Phoenix and Tucson) and all state operations while growing fundraising over 35%. He also worked directly with Arizona-elected officials that included Senator Jon Kyl and Senator John McCain on pro-Israel related issues and events.

Evan is currently a candidate for a ALMM from Harvard University and was one of only 20 students selected from across Harvard to sit on the Student Advisory Board for The Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations.

He resides in Brookline, MA, with his wife, Heidi, daughter, Sadie, and son, Elan.
