Melodaine S. Bonjour '80
BS, Community Health
Melodaine S. Bonjour has been actively working in the field of public health education since receiving her B.S. in school and community health education from WestConn in 1980.
Bonjour began her career in public health with the City of Danbury as a grant coordinator of a community hypertension screening and education program. After that, she lead numerous other community-based health promotion, disease prevention initiatives, including a Southeast Asian refugee grant, school nutrition project and AIDS Education Counseling and Testing program for the City of Danbury.
In 1993, Bonjour secured State Department of Public Health funding to establish the City’s first School-Based Health Center Program at Danbury High School. As the City of Danbury’s Health Promotional School-Based Health Center Coordinator, she has successfully secured approximately $1,000,000 in grant funding to establish three school-based health clinics in the city to increase access to medical, mental health and dental care for Danbury’s children and adolescents.
Her community work includes many years of service to the Federal Health
Resources and Services Bureau of Primary Health Care, as a HRSA grant
reviewer for the establishment of Community Health Centers throughout the
country.
