Lorraine Capobianco '77
BS, Education

Lorraine Capobianco has been employed at her alma mater for more than twenty-five years. In 1997, she was appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO). In addition to holding various positions in information technology, such as developer, system manager, coordinator, then director of information and network services, Capobianco has taught 37 mathematics and computer science courses at WestConn. As CIO, she is responsible for providing information technology leadership and direction which encompasses instructional technology; academic, student, and administrative computing; Web site training and telecommunication (voice, video, data) services; network security management; and management for information technology. Capobianco serves as liaison to the Connecticut State University System Office for strategic technology initiatives. She oversees 28 full- and part-time colleagues as well as more than 35 student employees.

Capobianco began her career as an educator teaching high school mathematics and computer science. She also has taught computer literacy in adult education programs. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics/Computer Science from WestConn and has earned credits towards an MBA and master’s degree in computer science from the University of Connecticut and the University of New Haven. Capobianco participates in regional K-12 technology initiatives and is a member of numerous professional organizations. She has been a presenter and has participated on discussion panels at various information technology conferences, locally and nationally.
