Maureen Salerno '80
BA, Social Work
Maureen Salerno, who received a B.A. in Social Work from WestConn in 1980, is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (NASW). She earned an M.S.W. from the University of Connecticut in 1985. In 1989, she became a distinguished member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She is a former director of Social Services for the Town of Brookfield, and since 1988 has been director of Social Work, as well as serving in related administrative positions, at New Milford Hospital.
Salerno has been a loyal and enthusiastic graduate of WestConn's social work alumni program, serving as a member, then the chair of its Community Advisory Committee. She also chaired the 25-year reunion committee. In addition, she worked as a field instructor for a number of the program's students. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, Connecticut chapter, and has provided volunteer services in a range of community settings and initiatives, such as on the Board of Directors of the Northwest CT AIDS Project.
Salerno's performance always has reflected the professionalism that
carries the best social workers through changes in the social welfare
service and health care system. WestConn's Department of Social Work is
proud to count her as a graduate, recognizing her career accomplishments in
the field of social work in the western Connecticut region.
