Participate in Commencement 2010!

We expect 2010 to be an exciting year here at your alma mater. As we continue to develop and grow, we have enjoyed establishing new traditions here at WestConn in which we hope you will consider being an active participant.
Continuing with this year’s Commencement, we’d like to include alumni as active partners in the celebration. We are inviting alumni to participate in the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony taking place on Sunday, May 23, 2010. We’d like the graduates of the past — you and your peers — to lead the graduates of today as they embark upon the next stage of their association with WestConn.
As a Commencement leader, you will be asked to don a cap and gown and lead the procession of the Class of 2010. Academic regalia will be provided for your use the morning of the ceremony. Commencement will take place at the university’s Westside campus beginning at 8 a.m. with a Commencement Breakfast in the Westside Campus Center followed by Academic Dress at 9 a.m. in the O’Neill Center. The procession will begin at 10 a.m. followed immediately by the ceremony. Special seating will be provided for all alumni participating in the procession.
Over the past two years, more than 20 alumni spanning the decades from the classes of 1946 through 2009 have participated in Commencement by leading the graduate procession. This new tradition was a wonderful way to honor our graduates and welcome them into the WCSU Alumni Association.
I hope you will consider participating in this celebration. Please R.S.V.P. by calling the Office of Alumni Relations at 203-837-8290 or e-mail alumni@wcsu.edu by May 10, 2010.
I hope you will join me and other alumni as we welcome the Class of 2010 to the Alumni Association. I look forward to hearing from you. It’s an exciting time to be a part of WestConn! I hope I can count on your support.
Sincerely,
Tammy Hammershoy ’97
Director of Alumni Relations
