Students
  1. Nancy White Cassidy (Illustration, M.F.A. 2005) is teaching children’s illustration, pastel and drawing at Naugatuck Community College, the Washington Art Association, the Brookfield Crafts Center and the Fletcher Farm School for Arts and Crafts in Ludlow, Vermont.  She is participating in “Tabletop, Past and Present” at the Silo Gallery in April.  Just prior to her entry to Western’s M.F.A. program, her book Doll of Lilac Valley was published by Green Mountain Press.
  2. Lee Cordon (Painting, M.F.A. 2004) was accepted for a partially funded residency fellowship at the Vermont Studio School and did a specialized workshop with M.F.A. board member, Hugh O’Donnell.  Her work was exhibited in the “Landscape Visions” show at the Silo Gallery.  This show later moved to Western’s Warner Hall in honor of Jane Goodall’s visit.  Her work was included in the Washington Art Association’s members show in 2003.  Her work will also be included in the exhibit, “Tabletop, Past and Present” upcoming at the Silo.
  3. Laurie Mathieson (Painting, M.F.A. 2004) has done a workshop with Hugh O’Donnell and had work included in the “Landscape Visions” show at the Silo Gallery and at Western.
  4. Bridget Grady (Painting, M.F.A. 2004) exhibited in the “Landscape Visions” show at the Silo and Western.  Her work will be included in “Tabletop, Past and Present” in April.  She has also contributed art and has done volunteer work for the Jane Goodall Foundation.
  5. Anne Flynn (Painting, M.F.A. 2004) participated in a Hugh O’Donnell workshop and was accepted for specialized study at the New York Studio School in the summer of 2003 and winter of 2004.  Her work was included in the “Landscape Visions” show at the Silo and Western.  Her painting was purchased for the collection of Dr. Linda Vaden-Goad, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences.
  6. Melissa Hatch (Painting, M.F.A. 2005) exhibited in the Washington Art Association’s faculty show.  She was included with a number of widely known local and New York artists in the “Wellspring Benefit Show” at New Arts Gallery in Litchfield, Connecticut.  Her work will be included in the “Tabletop” show.
  7. Joan Kelly (Painting, M.F.A. 2005) is teaching art at the Hudson Valley Montessori School and is exhibiting at Elyeard Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland, and Baltimore Clayworks.  She is preparing for a one-person exhibition in Catonsville Gallery at Catonsville Community College in Baltimore in October 2005.  Her work will be included in the “Tabletop” show at the Silo.
  8. Tony Zatzick (Painting, M.F.A. 2004) has a piece on exhibit at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.  The exhibition was juried by nationally recognized artist, Charles Cajori. 

He was also one member of a three person exhibition in the Trinity Contemporary Gallery at the Arkansas Historic Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas titled “From the Kramer School: Works by Tony Zatzick, Jennifer Fowler Hodges and Dero Sanford.” 

He was a visiting artist-teacher at Southern Arkansas University in the summer of 2003.  He also participated in 3 drawing marathons at the New York Studio School led by noted artist, Graham Nickson, dean of the school.

Alumni

  1. Phyllis Boger was in a three-person exhibit at the White Silo in August, and a three-person exhibit at the Bethel Arts Junction in October.  She also taught 2 workshops at the Brookfield Crafts Center.
  2. Lisa Falco received a full fellowship for a four week residency at the prestigious Vermont Studio Center.  She was one of only eleven applicants chosen out of an international pool of approximately 500.
  3. Marilyn Lindner taught foundation courses at the Art Institute of Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  4. Juan Moreno had a one-person show in October in the Ruth Ann Lever Atrium Gallery at Naugatuck Community College.  He was in a two person show at New Space Gallery at Manchester Community College.  He had work included in three group shows: a juried exhibition at the Art Place in the Yale Physicians Building, a group show at the Gallery, Northwestern Community College, and in Alumni Hall at Western Connecticut State University.  In April, he spoke on his work at New Space Gallery, Manchester Community College and at Alumni Hall at Western Connecticut State University.
  5. Ival Stratford-Kovner received two grants for her project, “French Connection; internet usage and illustrations for students”; an Artist-in-Residence Grant from the Dedham Savings Bank, and a financial award from the local Arts Cultural Council.  She has also received a Massachusetts Cultural Council Grant, a grant from Architecture Magazine, and a fellowship from the Americans for the Arts National Conference, and a grant from the Boston Society of Architects conference.  Her work was included in the “Portals and Modules” exhibit at Gallery 13 in Danbury, Connecticut in July and in “Reflections, Reflections” Alumni Exhibition at Western Connecticut State University, and a printmaking exhibition at Manhattan College of Art.  She also participated in a conference on workshop presentation planning for Artist Teachers at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, D.C.
  6. Carolyn Wallace had a painting purchased by collector, Mr. Ken Daniel, formerly of Pace Gallery in New York City, and who was a studio assistant to famous artist, Lee Krasner.  Her work is included in the Washington Art Association Members Show, where she is teaching in the spring of 2004.
