Mary Lou Alberetti '64 (Education Degree) has taught at the university level for 27 years, and was an adjunct at Western before becoming a professor emeritus at Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, Connecticut.

1 Michael Ballantoni '98 (Graphic Design) owns Ballantoni Designs Inc. He provides graphic design ands illustration.  Services include digital design, photo retouching, ad layout, portrait painting, business cards, stationary, product development and packaging.

Linda Banks is a Multimedia artisan for over 30 years; taught privately and for many schools including Washington Art Association; exhibits regionally including: the Silo, the Washington Art Assoc., and many churches, schools, libraries and banks; studied at Brookfield Craft Center, New England Horizons Craft School, Hot Glass Horizons, Hands On Glass at Corning, and Plumb Hill Studio; owns/operates glass studio in New Preston, CT. Patricia Barkman '72 (English) owns and operates Lakeside Gallery in Newtown. Pat taught technical communications, including interpersonal , business and professional speaking, for thirty years.  She received her Ph. D. in English (communications) in 1981 and also received a second masters during that time.

Mark Block '83 (Graphic Design) has a new book  titled, "The Encyclopedia of Modern Marbles." It reviews in text and illustrations the history of antique handmade German and American machine-made marbles with their contemporary cousins being crafted in today's studio art glass movement. His first book, "Contemporary Marbles and Related Art Glass" has sold over 5,000 copies and is nearing a second printing.

This new book is a coffee table book with museum quality photos, and is being reviewed by the curators of the Corning Museum of Glass contemporary glass, and American Museum of American Glass, Millville, NJ.

He has done a number of book signings around the country the past couple of years as well as two in London at Waterstone's, the largest book store in London. He has also been featured in articles in the Stamford Advocate, New Haven Register, and have appeared on Martha Stewart Living (a collector of marbles), and two HGTV programs. This in addition to numerous radio interviews and articles written for journals on antiques, glass and collectibles.

Phyllis Boger'02 (MFA, painting) 
was one of the first graduates of the MFA program in painting and continues to show her work.  During the summer of 2002, Phyllis studied at a workshop led by M.F.A. board member Hugh O’Donnell

She received her undergraduate degree from Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois and also went to the School of Art Institute in Chicago.

Garry Camp Burdick, adjunct art professor, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Philadelphia Museum of Art (now the University of Arts). After two years as a staff photographer at Seventeen Magazine, Garry got a job at the Famous Artists School in Westport, CT.  While at the Famous Artists School, he was able to take more than 100 shots of Norman Rockwell at his studio in Stockbridge, MA. 

Garry has been invited by the Smithsonian Institute to show 3 - 5 of his pieces. 

 

 

 

   
Dave Clark is the owner of DRC Publishing in Danbury, CT.  DRC Publishing is a premier fine art printmaking service and publisher of high-quality Giclée prints. Dave is also a photographer and uses his love of photography and combines tradition methods of painting to create unique images that are often surreal and thought provoking. He works in oils, acrylic, airbrush and pastels and has produced many of his pieces as limited edition giclée prints.  He is an artists' representative and can be seen at.  www.drcpublishing.com

   
Verna Lee Cordon  '04 (MFA, painting) is a gemologist and still a member of the American Gem Society having owned a jewelry store, selling stones, in Litchfield.  She still works in the store occasionally on Saturdays.  

Before receiving her MFA, she graduated from Charter Oak State College with a BA in Applied Arts with honors, and attended Northwestern and Central CT State University.

1. Andy DiGuiseppi '02 (Graphic Design) is graphic designer for Sumner Communications with a concentration in desktop publishing.  He continues to freelance.  He did the t-shirt design and brochure for the 2003 Danbury Gasball in CityCenter.

Joseph DiGuissippe '02 (Illustration) continues to work freelance, doing murals for businesses and homes as well as children's book illustrations.  His third book has recently been completed: "Triblet's Valentines Day Woes" and hopes to have it published by next year.  Joe still makes a strong effort to continue his personal work and is will soon teach a cartooning class at the YMCA.  His second published children's book is, "The Adventures of Merlin the Mouse".  More of Joe's work can be seen at www.portfolio.com/jdig

John Dye '92 (Graphic Design) is a graphics and presentation designer for numerous locations throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties, securing new business contacts for the agencies he represents.  He also works as a freelance illustrator and painter.

1. Muriel Glass '75 (Education) graduated with an education degree.  She took art classes with Robert Alberetti, Rosalie Appel and Walter Boelke.  She also studied with Diane Stein of Brookfield and "One of a Kind" studio in Danbury. 

She has received many awards for her work and has her sculpture, "Metamorphis" in the permanent collection of the Richter Association.

John Kane '76 (Photography) has published fashion, architectural, food, and nature photography for many leading magazines and organizations including Cosmopolitan, Better Homes and Gardens, Bon Appetit, House & Garden, Natural History Magazine, The World Wildlife Fund and many more. At his studio, Silver Sun Studio, he has also produced advertising for many Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest catalog companies. He travels extensively over seas and holds, in fact, dual U.S. - European Union citizenship.

 1 ShawnaLee Waterbury Kwashnak '96 (studio Art) has merged her love of horses and her love of art to provide portraitures of horses, people, pets and places. She accepts commissions in a variety of media including, but not limited to: fine oil paintings, graphite drawings, acrylics, watercolors, charcoals, handpainted ceramics or pen & ink.  She is now teaching drawing classes in Naugatuck and a summer YMCA camp.  She designed the brochure for the Middlebury Bridle Land Association (MBLA) and is now working on the illustrations for a children's book written by her mom.

Ed Little, an adjunct art professor at WestConn, Graduating summa cum laude from Ravensbourne College of Art in London, England, Ed Little is an MFA Editorial and Information design graduate. A self educated artist he utilizes classical oil painting techniques to create elegant and dramatic murals and to create paintings available for purchase as original or fine art prints.

Maryann Meken-Silvestri '76 (Education) is a fused glass artist who currently operates The Eclectic Glaziery, a studio in Danbury, CT. 

A former Danbury Public School art teacher, she holds a BS from the University of Bridgeport and an MS from WestConn.  Continuing education includes classes taken at San Francisco Stained Glassworks II, Brookfield Craft Center and Banks Art Studio. 
 

Jeanine Molnar '00 (Illustration)  has started a new business venture, Gemini Moon Mosaics, LLC. found at www.geminimoonmosaics.com. It features her mosaics mirrors and decorative artwork. There is also a gallery of past pieces, and a secure shopping cart for ordering. Custom orders are also welcome.

Plonia Nixon, adjunct art professor, moved to New Fairfield, Connecticut in 1974 where she works and teaches in her own studio.  She joined Western as an adjunct teacher in 1981 where she had a solo show in 1983. Nixon continues to exhibit widely and has won over 50 awards, including the Grumbacher gold medal.

Mounira Stott '04 (MFA, Painting) has studied painting the human figure with Steven Brown, landscape and still life with Kirill Doron, drawing and painting at Naugatuck Valley Community College and received a professional certificate with high honors at the Moscow College of Artistic Professionals in Moscow.  She is the co-founder of the Moon Era Fine Arts in Southbury, CT.  She has received several art awards  and has her work on the web http://www.mindspring.com/~ir003559/arts/intro.htm

Ival Stratford-Kovner '02 (MFA, Painting) was the first graduate of the WestConn MFA program,  received her BFA from Boston University School for the Arts, a computer graphics certificate from Clark College in Massachusetts a MS from Western and received her Arts Management certification from UMASS.  Ival continues to exhibit her work.  Pictures to be added
Thomas Taylor '84 (Graphic Design) is an artist in Manhattan. He maintains a studio to show his own work, and has shown his work at the Silvermine Guild Art Center in New Canaan, CT; The New York Society of Etchers in New York City; Przestrzenie Grafiki, Gallery of Contemporary Art FORMAT, in Crakow, Poland and "Graphic" in Holland Tunnel Gallery in Brooklyn, NY and at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in their galley "A" Editions section, as well as on their web site  www.aldrichart.org, among others.

Tom also works as print studio technician for the Brooklyn College Art Department; the print technician for guest artists with the Brooklyn College Press and teaches as an adjunct at the College. In addition he does installation for galleries and functions as a project artist on larger pieces both in studio and on-site specific works for others in the creative community.

Richard J. Villodas '84 (Graphic Design) has stayed involved with the arts and works primarily with acrylics and pastels.  He illustrated program covers for the GMCLA and  was responsible for the art direction of printed material commemorating the 1939 New York World's Fair.  He taught art to inner city youth and is a past president and board member of the Stanley L. Richter Association for the Arts.

Emile Waite '01 (Studio Art) has a Bachelors of English and Mechanical Engineering from New York University. After retiring he returned to school full time to get a degree in art. He started painting twenty-five years ago.  Last spring he studied abroad for a semester in Italy. He went to Fiorenza, Florence, at an accredited art school called Studio Art Center International.
