John Kane has published fashion, architectural, food, and nature photography for many leading magazines and organizations including Cosmopolitan, Better Homes and Gardens, Bon Appetit, House & Garden, Natural History Magazine, The World Wildlife Fund and many more. At his studio, Silver Sun Studio, he has also produced advertising for many Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest catalog companies. He travels extensively over seas and holds, in fact, dual U.S. - European Union citizenship. With his wife Wendy
Carlson (also an award winning photographer and writer) he has done many
travel stories in Switzerland, Ireland and Italy. Many photos from the US
are published in European, most recently Currently with Wendy he is restoring a classic turn of the century farm in Northville, Ct. where they live with James, and Tristan, their two sons. The house and gardens will be a series of stories to appear in Traditional Home¹s Renovation Style magazine. "Twisted Yoga", a book done in collaboration with Pilobolus Dance Theater was released in March 2002 by Sea Star Press. He’s is widely published and has a another book coming out this fall in collaboration with Pilobolus Dance Company with the working title of THE HUMAN ALPHABET. His credits include many of the biggest consumer magazines as well as books and photo essays on fashion, travel, food and modern dance. Having had close ties with Western for many years and dipping into the labor pool of gifted photo students there, John Kane, had the pleasure of teaching some photography courses in the Art Department under chairs Abe Echevarria and Terry Wells. He is now teaching workshops at the New England Photographic Workshop and collaborating with the Brookfield Craft Center with a calendar of classes targeted for those working in digital, and those who want to be. |
