Susan holds master’s degrees in education from Keene State College and Antioch University New England, began her art studies at the Worcester Museum School. Susan described the characteristically rich textures and vivid colors of her works as “oil painting that honors the energy and beauty of the plant world with color texture and composition.”
Susan has returned from teaching on a Navajo Reservation in
northern AZ teaching as a special education teacher and doing some
art with the students in an afterschool program. She took photographs of
the amazing landforms and painting a huge rockface. Susan adds, "I
had to travel 30 miles to get to the nearest grocery store.....and
60 miles to the nearest public library." She is painting
from the photographs of amazing scenery in the southwest; and
continues to work with painting on gessoed women's gowns as canvas.
She had such a piece in the "Recycled Show" at the Coconino Center
for the Arts in Flagstaff AZ this past spring, 2011.
