The WAA Studio Tour began on a gray, drizzly morning in the WAA Gallery.  I picked up a map and was on my own to find the studios of some of my favorite artists.  The day culminated in a great show at a perfect site with our own Plonia Nixon as a featured artist.  .
First stop:

Hugh O'Donnell, a WCSU MFA advisory board member, was my first stop.  He has two studios, one to work on his larger paintings, one for the smaller works.  Pictured here is his daughter looking at guests viewing a large painting.

Hugh posed with a few of his larger paintings.

This is a smaller piece by Hugh O'Donnell

Next:

Margaret Grimes has a studio behind Hugh's.

John Wallace was on hand to assist Margaret during the day.
After 110 miles and two other studios (out of seven) through out the small town of Washington Depot, I stopped at the Gunn Memorial Library and Museum ( www.biblio.org/gunn ).  On the ceiling of the library is the Mowbray Mural.  Unveiled in 1914, the grand ceiling mural was donated by muralist and painter, H. Siddons Mowbray, in memory of his wife.  The library also features a stairwell between the main and upper levels featuring the work of local artists.
On display at the museum was the work of John Folinsbee (1892-1972)as part of a multi-site project sponsored by the Mattatuck Museum of Waterbury, CT.  John Folinsbee first came to Washington, CT as a student at the Gunnery (now the library).

At 3:00 PM I went to the West Wind Studio, a beautiful gallery set among the trees in Washington, to see
