Pat Barkman (above) with some of her work and a fresh flower arrangement from her garden and (left) with friends who helped on  the Open Space Task Force (l-r) Kim Rumford, Leon Barkman, Pat, Bob Eckenrode and Peter Sofman. The Task Force was established to address the lack of open space in Newtown, CT.  They state that developments are going up everywhere and must be brought under control.  They are trying to establish a network of trails on town properties.  A six-mile trail be open from the upper Paugusett State Forest down the river to the Reed Middle School.
