Research: December 2008 I continued collaborative research with
Dr. Bhaskar Mukhopadyay of Goldsmiths, University of London,
spending 5 weeks in Kolkata, India. The field work takes place
in the brothels of Kolkata with the sex workers as our subjects.
We are using the creation of art as an encounter with our
subjects. The painting/drawing is the point of communication.
Therefore we not only interview the women but have an
experience, becoming a part of each others lives. The art and
writing produced as a way to give marginalized communities a
voice.
