Raul Colón is an acclaimed illustrator whose work has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, Time Magazine, The New Yorker, and The Wall Street Journal. Raul’s color pencil and watercolor illustrations have also been commissioned for theater posters, annual reports, advertisements, and have been awarded both Silver and Gold medals from The Society of Illustrators. The artist is especially renowned for his children’s book illustrations for which he has received many accolades. The first children’s picture book that he has also written is soon to be published by Simon and Schuster. Raúl explains how he provides a background in watercolor before adding the illustration, usually done in colored pencils.

Maryann Moore brought a book from home, illustrated by Raúl  for his autograph.  she also asked him to autograph a book of illustrators as Joel Spector watches.

Carmen Lund talks with the artist after his speech.  Raul will critique the upcoming illustrators work during the afternoon classes.
