CS 166 - Introduction to Unix

An introduction to problem solving and algorithmic development. The fundamentals of the UNIX operating system concepts, architecture and administration are covered. Topics will include: the functions of an operating system and how UNIX fulfills that role, the file system, shells, scripting, utilities and system administration. The course emphasizes problem solving and the basics of computer programming in a UNIX/Linux computing environment. Prerequisite: MAT 100 or appropriate math placement score
