The "ECSU
ride start"
is evident in the above campus map.
Parking:
Parking areas will be specified on the map above when we know how many
spots will be needed. Check back here closer to May 4. You can always
check with the campus police at HQ in case there is a last minute change.
Meals
in the ECSU cafeteria: If you plan to buy Sat supper in
the cafeteria, you must get there by 6:30 pm and you must have specified
this option on your registration form.
Meals
otherwise: A few places to eat are indicated on the Willimantic
map. (Suggestions are welcome from
people familiar with the Willimantic area and will be added to the map.
Please email me.)
Sat
Night Sleeping Arrangements at ECSU:
We have reserved the gym
in the Sports Center for Sat night. Bring a sleeping bag and pillow
(and perhaps a pad). However, there are plenty of gym mats that we can
use as pads. No food or drink is allowed in the gym.
Across the lobby from the
gym is a classroom where bikes and other items can be stored. There
are bathrooms conveniently located across the lobby.
Separate men's and women's
locker rooms are also available for our use.
Sunday A.M.:
Sleeping gear and other items
can be stored on the bus in the morning for its return trip to WCSU
at Danbury, where it can be picked up when you get back. Be sure your
items are labelled.
Riders who want to start
at the R.I. border will be transported to that location, with the bus
leaving at an agreed upon time.
Other
Sleeping Arrangements:
If it is open, the Pachaug
State Forest, located on route 49 in Voluntown, is a really
nice campground. It is a few miles south of the R.I. border starting
point . I slept there the night before my first ride across the state.
I briefly checked out a
few other campgrounds in the Rhode Island border area. They primarily
appear to be residential trailer parks, which I would not choose to
stay at.
