GEO 100 Principles of World Geography 3 SH
This course acquaints the student with the extent to which humans are creatures of environment and with the extent to which humans in turn are able to control the forces of nature. A study is made of the influence of climate, topography, soils and other natural resources. Certain cultural areas are analyzed in order to illustrate the influence which geography exerts upon both the material and the nonmaterial aspects of human life. GEO/ENV 150 Urban Environment as a Human Ecological Problem 3 SH
This course will examine a spectrum of urban ills: traffic congestion, rapid transit, power and water shortages, smog and management problems. In addition, the historical evolution of the city and its problems will be considered as well as future solutions to current crises. GEO 250 U.S.A. and Canada: A Regional Study 3 SH
The study of human socio-economic adjustments to the natural environment of the U.S.A. and Canada. Broad geographical concepts are applied to specific situations. Historical and contemporary factors are considered to determine the place of this region in the modern world. Alternate spring semesters. Not open to first-year students. GEO/AAS 251 Africa: A Regional Study 3 SH
A study of the interrelationships between the general physical and cultural aspects of continental Africa. Certain areas within selected regions will be used for more detailed analysis. Alternate fall semesters. Not open to first year students. General Education: Social Science.

A study of the interrelationships between the general physical and cultural aspects of the tsarist and Soviet empires and Russia.
