CED 297 Cooperative Education: Option 1 1-12 SH
Cooperative education is a program designed to provide the student with an
opportunity to integrate academic studies with work experiences related to
career interest. Co-op work assignments are arranged through the co-op
office and may be utilized more than once for a maximum of 18 SH CED 297
credit. Students may not, however, register for more than 12 SH co-op credit
during a given semester. Academic credit is awarded on the basis of one (1)
credit for each fifty (50) hours of work experience on a pass/fail basis.
All students registering for CED 297 credit will be expected to:
a) Schedule an interview with a member of the co-op staff;
b) Attend regular co-op seminars as scheduled during the co-op work semester;
c) Maintain and submit a process log detailing work experience activities and learning objectives;
d) Submit a final synthesis paper and employer and student evaluations.
Prerequisite: minimum of 45 SH credits in good standing. Registration in CED 297 will depend upon availability of co-op employment opportunities.
ANY LABEL 297 Cooperative Education: Option II 1-12 SH
An opportunity to integrate academic skills with work experience directly
related to a student's academic major is available through this co-op
option. The work experience is arranged through the co-op office and jointly
approved by the department chairperson and the director of the co-op
program. Students may earn a maximum of 18 SH. Department 297 credit but no
more than 12 SH co-op credit may be taken in a given semester. Individual
academic departments reserve the right to limit the total number of credits
earned under this option. Students registering for department 297 credit may
receive a letter grade and will be expected to attend the CED 297 seminar
(or an appropriate department 297 seminar), maintain a process log, submit a
final synthesis paper and complete employer and student evaluations.
Prerequisite: Minimum of 45 SH credits in good standing and department
approval for registration in department 297 co-op. Registration in
department 297 will depend upon availability of co-op employment
opportunities.
