Centennial Update July/August 2002
Baby, oh baby!
One lucky future greater Danbury resident will receive the best gift for a college student—free tuition! As part of
the Centennial celebration, the university will award a four-year scholarship to the first baby born at Danbury Hospital
on September 14, 2002, the day of the Centennial Kick-Off Celebration.
The presentation will be made to the parents during their stay at Danbury Hospital. Good luck to all! Restaurants
add flavor to CentennialLocal restaurants and diners are joining in to spread the word about WestConn’s
Centennial celebration! In a wonderful show of support, local restaurants have agreed to use special WestConn Centennial
placemats that carry the message, “We’ve Been Neighbors for 100 Years; Let’s Get To Know Each Other Better.”
So, next time it’s lunch time and you’re looking for a place to dine, how about visiting one of the restaurants
supporting our Centennial celebration? They are: 3 Brothers Diner, Windmill Diner, Red Colony Diner, New Colony Diner,
Carousel Diner, Sit Down Diner, TK’s American Cafe, New Holiday Diner, Denny’s restaurant, Ernie’s Roadhouse and the two
Duchess Restaurant locations in Danbury! Centennial license plates still availableWhat better way to show
your pride and celebrate WestConn’s 100th birthday than with an official WestConn Centennial license plate?
This DMV-approved, first- edition plate is still available to all members of the WestConn community and can be ordered
through the Office of Alumni Relations. The price is $100 for a transferred plate and $200 for a new vanity plate.

Celebration on Saturday, September 14th.
