Tony Seldon transferred to Western from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, where he spent his first two years in college. He came to WCSU, he says, "To be closer to home and further enhance my ability to pursue my career goals with the great communication department here at WestConn."
Seldon says he chose to pursue a degree in communication because "I have aspirations of becoming a sports broadcaster and communication best suited me."
Asked what he will remember most about his Western experience, Seldon says, "Being approved for my originally scheduled May 2015 graduation, and finding out that I am graduating cum laude, all despite transferring here after my sophomore year and losing 15 credits. Graduating on time was very important to me and is something I set my mind on when I graduated from high school. Despite transferring, I was determined to catch up and finish as scheduled. Taking numerous summer and winter courses I accomplished that goal. It was far from easy, but to say it was worth it would be an understatement."
After graduation, Seldon plans to obtain a sports broadcasting position at a TV or radio station and "build a great career in a tailored field for my love of sports and communication."
Seldon’s advice to new students entering WCSU is: “Always strive for more, never be satisfied, and always take advantage of opportunities to better yourself.. Also, never allow anyone to turn your sky into a ceiling. Work for what you want, and never let anything or anyone get in your way.”
