Psychology Graduate Extern Training Program

Doctoral, Masters and Social Work Graduate Extern Opportunity

The Counseling Center at Western Connecticut State University would like to extend an exciting training opportunity for Doctoral, Masters or Social work psychology externs for the 2009-2010 academic year. Externs should be available from the last week in August 2009- the end of May 2010. All externs will participate in an intensive training experience at the beginning of the academic year (last week in August 2009). The Center also provides on-going in-service and case conference presentations. All externs receive at least one hour of weekly individual supervision. Responsibilities include conducting initial assessments (intakes) and providing psychotherapy services to undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to participating in Thursday staff meetings (10 AM to noon). Externs will participate in outreach and educational programs as needed, and will have the opportunity to develop and implement their own project for the University community. Externs will also administer and interpret the MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory for students interested in career assessment.

Minimum qualifications: Enrolled in an APA-approved clinical or counseling Ph.D./Psy.D program. Enrolled in an accredited Master’s or Social work program. Minimum 15 hours per week.
