DIRECTOR FOR DIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY - UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: The University of Idaho invites applications and nominations for the position of Director for Diversity and Community. This position is a 12-month, 1.0 FTE appointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Director reports directly to the president.   The Director for Diversity and Community will articulate and provide leadership in continuing, adapting and initiating university and community-wide programs to support enrichment of the learning environment through diversity; foster institutional change in every area of University life; facilitate and foster diversity-related curriculum development and teaching;  coordinate and facilitate diversity-related activities, including the development and implementation of comprehensive strategies for the recruitment of a diverse workforce and student body; facilitate the redesign of the University’s diversity recruitment and retention strategies in partnership with related University staff to enhance the educational, scholarship and engagement environments.    

The Director will collaborate with the President, Provost and Executive Vice President and University leadership on the design and implementation of activities to facilitate cultural and climate change, integrating diversity issues into the fabric of the university.   

The Director will establish and work with an Advisory Board, consisting of internal and external members, to fully address the opportunities and barriers to a welcoming and supportive university community.  

The Director for Diversity and Community participates as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
