EXECUTIVE & PROGRAM ASSISTANT - NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH ON WOMEN
The National Council for Research on Women (NCRW) is a consortium of over 100 leading women’s research, policy, and advocacy centers located across the US. It uses the power of a women’s research network to ensure fully informed debate, policies, and practices and build a more equitable and inclusive world for women and girls. Founded in 1981, two-thirds of the Council’s centers are on university and college campuses; the remaining one-third comprise a mix of policy and advocacy centers, education and gender-based coalitions. The Council also works with a network of corporate leaders who value research as a means to building diversity and promoting women’s leadership, and is developing a network of college and university presidents who similarly value and support gender-based policy research.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the President in scheduling, correspondence, travel arrangements, and other day-to-day tasks.
- Preparing President for speeches and meetings.
- Program support as assigned, for example, assisting with program development and implementation; researching, writing, and editing for reports and other documents; acting as rapporteur at meetings.
- Conference and meeting planning/management.
- Maintaining listservs and other communication technology functions.
- Providing assistance with communications efforts, such as the submission of letters to the editor and op-eds, press and Congressional briefings, interviews, and meetings with reporters.
- Maintaining subject matter research and information.
- Interacting with Member Centers of the Council around both logistical and program issues.
- Providing Board and committee support.
- Working with / supervising interns on programmatic efforts.
The Council maintains a small staff of approximately 10 individuals plus consultants, Fellows, and interns. The position offers variety, the opportunity for professional growth, great exposure to the non-profit world, and a chance to interact with interesting people around important issues.

- Ability to work with staff members at all levels and interact with the Board of Directors, member, donors, vendors and visitors.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work accurately under deadlines and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment
- willingness to do “whatever it takes” to get the job done and support the mission of the Council
- excellent writing, research, and computer skills
- a friendly disposition and sense of humor
- interest in feminist issues
