Art Auction - This is a fundraiser event.  All proceeds will be donated to the Tanzanian Wheelchair Project and the Tanzanian Scholarship Fund. The artwork has been donated by many wonderful local area artists and there will be a live band as well.

September 18th & 19th, 2006

Lecture by Dr. Jane Goodall at Syracuse University, visit to Onondaga Lake Both the lecture and visit to Onondaga is free for college students and professors who register with us.

Location:  Syracuse University & Onondaga Lake, NY
Cost:   FREE  - Syracuse University has allowed us to invite a total 50 students and professors to this event so be sure to get your application in as soon as possible.
Activities: Lecture by Dr. Goodall from 7:30 to 9:30pm on Monday evening.    Tuesday trip with Jane Goodall to Onondaga Lake and possible meeting with Jane later that afternoon if time allows.  Please contact us for detailed schedule.

April 21st, 22nd & 23rd, 2006

Nationwide University Roots & Shoots Summit - This conference will include university Roots & Shoots students and faculty.
Jane Goodall will be attending this summit for workshops and various events. 

Location:  Clearpool Education Center (meals and lodging included)
Cost:   FREE (Due to WestConn being awarded a federal grant, the entire summit, including meals and accommodations is free on a first come first serve basis so we urge students and faculty to give a commitment by April 5th, 2006).

April 24th, 2006  - Dr. Jane Goodall meeting with local elementary and high school students and hosting a college symposium in the afternoon. 

Location: 
Western Connecticut State University, O'Neil Center on Westside Campus (College Symposium being held in Alumnae Hall, Midtown Campus).
Cost:  Free to local students in the area.

9am to 10am - Grades 3 through 5.
10:15am to 12:15pm - Grades 6 through 12.
2pm to 3:30pm - College Symposium

April 19th, 2006  - WestConn's Roots & Shoots Club is Hosting a Pre-Earth Day Celebration 

Location: 
Western Connecticut State University, in and outside of the Student Center (Midtown Campus).
Cost:  Daytime Events Free
Wolf Conservation Center visit is $6 general admission, WestConn Students Free.
Tickets can be purchased at  the Student Center (Advanced Tickets recommended)

Time:  Starting at 12pm, daytime events leading up to visit from Atka, the wolf, and the South Salem Wolf Conservation at 7pm in the Student Center.

February 10th, 11th & 12th, 2006: Info from Summit....

Roots & Shoots University Summit "Green Campus Initiative Through Roots And Shoots" - This exciting summit is open to all Roots & Shoots groups.  We encourage both students and faculty to attend.  Among other things this conference will teach us how to make our campus more environmentally friendly. 

Location: Clearpool Education Center (meals and lodging included)
Cost:  FREE (Due to WestConn being awarded the federal grant, the entire summit, including meals and accommodations is free to the first fifty students and faculty that give a commitment by January 8th)

October 28th, 2005: 

Quinnipiac is hosting Jane Goodall as keynote speaker at the Albert Schweitzer Institute's "Reverence For Life Revisited", event information.

September 17th, 2005:

The Bear Search And Rescue Foundation is honoring exceptional volunteers, both two-legged and four-legged in the NYC Harbor.  This is an organization that celebrates Search And Rescue Dogs and their Trainers.  Jane Goodall will be the keynote speaker and WestConn Roots & Shoots will have a booth there.  All volunteers are welcome.
