What is workplace violence?
Definition: It is defined as any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide. It can affect and involve employees, clients, customers and visitors.
The State of Connecticut has adopted a statewide zero tolerance policy for workplace violence. Western Connecticut State University fully supports this policy and recognizes the right of its employees to work in a safe and secure environment that is characterized by respect and professionalism.
