WINTER WEATHER PARKING RESTRICTIONS
Snow parking ban restrictions – When a snow parking ban is in effect, in anticipation of snow or other severe weather, or due to snow and icy conditions, it may become necessary to clear all surface parking lots (regardless of designation), the top decks of all campus parking garages, and all of University Blvd, Grasso Drive, Centennial Drive and the O’Neill Access Road (Feldman Drive), in order to facilitate snow and/or ice removal operations.

Parking during snow ban parking restriction periods will be available as follows:

Westside Campus: All Westside Campus residents must park in the Centennial Hall Parking Garage (except for the upper deck).

Current Facilities Projects which may impact University Operations

as of February 9th, 2024

Midtown Campus

Berkshire Hall Gymnasium and Fitness Center Roof
Current – nearing completion
Work on the replacement of the roof over the gymnasium side of the building is nearing completion. The contractor is focusing on the associated edge work, but recent inclement weather has slowed the progress. Consequently, the expected completion date of the work has been pushed to February 2024, and again, contingent upon favorable weather conditions. This work is a pre-cursor to repairs and updates to the interior gymnasium flooring, lighting, and wall surfacing. Please use extreme caution when walking around this area.
Project Lead: Daniel Casinelli, Capital Planning and Engineering

Berkshire Hall Phase II – Fitness Center
Current through September 30th, 2024
Work for the new Fitness Center at Berkshire Hall has begun. The contractor has started mobilizing onsite; and construction fencing has been installed.  Expect some noise and dust as the demolition work commences in the next week.  This area is now an active construction zone so please use extreme caution when walking in the vicinity.
Project Lead: Daniel Casinelli, Capital Planning and Engineering

Newbury Hall Elevator(s) Replacement
Current – nearing completion
Construction for the replacement of both elevators is nearing completion, with the contractor now installing flooring and painting the walls. There has been a slight delay in the completion schedule due delivery of necessary access control and security equipment; but every effort is being made to minimize this delay and obtain the required inspections. Both elevators continue to be off limits and the entire project is now expected to be completed February 23rd, 2024.
Project Lead: Daniel Casinelli, Capital Planning and Engineering

Haas Library Fire Pump Replacement
Contract in Process
Work on the replacement of the Haas Library Fire Pump will begin shortly. A Contract for the work is in progress and we hope to start mobilizing onsite by the end of February. Due to the long lead time on delivery of the Fire Pump, the completion date for this work has been adjusted accordingly. This project is not expected to interrupt any current building operations and WCSU staff continues to run weekly tests of the system as required by the State Fire Code. Expected completion date is January 2025.
Project Lead: Daniel Casinelli, Capital Planning and Engineering

GENERAL FACILITIES NOTICES:

NO PARKING NEXT TO TRASH COMPACTERS AND DUMPSTERS
Please do not park immediately next to or in front of any trash compacters or dumpsters on either campus.

Blocking access to the compacters and dumpsters impedes our ability to have the trash removed.

We thank you for your cooperation.

WASTE DISPOSAL

Please refrain from disposing food down sinks, in particular, in those located in bathrooms as it causes blockages in our plumbing systems.

Uneaten food should be discarded in communal trash receptacles.

Additionally, paper towels, wipes and feminine products should not be flushed down toilets.
We thank you for your cooperation

OFFICE MOVES AND RELOCATIONS
We would like to remind faculty and staff that there is a formal request and approval process in place pertaining to office moves and relocations..

We ask that even if a space appears vacant or unused (or is expected to become vacant/unused in the near future). individuals do not attempt to relocate without written approval of their supervisor, and division leader, as well as Facilities.

Blocking access to the compacters and dumpsters impedes our ability to have the trash removed.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Help Us to Conserve Energy and Save Money…

When leaving a classroom or office and particularly at the end of the day, please turn off all lights to conserve electricity and save money. This is especially helpful in locations that are not automated or operate using motion sensors.

Also, please keep blinds closed during the sunniest times of the day, and make every effort to NOT open windows as this often interferes with the HVAC systems’ process and efficiency. Should it be absolutely necessary to open a window, kindly close it when vacating the room and do not leave any windows open overnight.
