Insurance Information
The University provides all
full time students with accident insurance protection. In addition to
this coverage, the University offers an optional Student Sickness
Insurance Plan. The premium for this plan is included in the General
Fee. This fee can be waived if a student has his / her own private health
insurance or is covered under their parents' policy. To waive this fee,
follow this link to
The Chickering Group.
The student insurance plan pays a designated amount for most medical services. After enrolling in this plan, students will be mailed an insurance card to use for medical services and prescriptions. The Plan name is Open Choice PPO and the plan number for Western is 980435.
All full time students, as part of the student fee are covered with accident insurance protection. They are covered 24 hours a day, on and off campus. This is an excess policy, which means that the insurance will pay accident-related costs not covered by your own insurance.
Students who are covered under a health insurance plan other than the Student Sickness Plan must have their insurance information with them each time they are seen at the Health Service. This information should include:
Having this information will expedite the paper work required during treatment and prevent billing problems with the insurance company.
The cost of the Student Sickness Insurance Plan can be found on the Chickering web site.
