Research Interests and Publications:
Dr. Duffy’s research interests include critical race theory, transnational migration and urban studies. Her dissertation, “Who’s Your Paddy: Racial Expectations and the Yonkers Irish,” examines how different cohorts of Irish in the city of Yonkers, New York navigate racial hierarchies in the United States. Future research projects will explore the history of the Irish in U.S. popular culture and the recent success of Irish step-dancing shows such as Riverdance. Before returning to her graduate studies, Dr. Duffy worked as a high school social studies instructor in the Bronx, New York.
