Welcome to the ARM Academic Success Spot. As you know, each of your buildings has at least one ARM, or Academic Resource Mentor. But there are lots of you, and they can't be everywhere at once, so we've created this page to provide you with some resources that you can access when your ARM isn't there to help.

button logoWho and what are the ARMs?

ARMs are Academic Resource Mentors -- peers whose goal is to help you find the information, locate the resources, and connect you to people who can help you in your academic endeavors. They provide academic and life skills programming, too. ARMs have office hours in your halls, when you can see them to get assistance. They are students, just like you! They can also help you touch base with PASS members, student volunteers who offer tutoring or assistance in subjects they do well in.

We're sure you've seen your ARM around in the building, but just in case, here are the ARMs:.

Who Am I? Where Am I? All About Me

Amy Bentley, Pinney Hall

Amy is a Senior Theater Performance major and is in her second year as an ARM. Her door is always open! Please feel free to stop by.
Amanda Daley, Pinney

Amanda Daley, Pinney Hall

I'm a senior nursing major at WCSU. Academic progress has not come without hard work and dedication. I enjoy studying nursing, but in my free time I love to spend time with friends, participate in on campus activities, and spend time enjoying the outdoors. I'm extremely outgoing as most of my friends would probably tell you, and I also love to spend time with my family! I'm an officer of several organizations on campus including SNA and the Student Center/Campus Center Board. I'm also a building manager at the Student and Campus Centers. I plan to relocate to Memphis, TN in the future to work at St. Jude's Children's Hospital. I chose to become an ARM in hopes of helping others set the same academic standards for themselves as I have for myself.
Emily Freundt

Emily Freundt, Litchfield Hall

Hi, my name is Emily Freundt and I am the new ARM of Litchfield Hall. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Elementary Education with a focus in Mathematics. I am also in the Honors program, which has had a major influence on my life since coming to WestConn, and has given me more confidence to push myself academically. I am currently the President of the Rotaract organization on campus and I am excited for the opportunity to continue helping my fellow students as an ARM. As an education major, helping students learn and better themselves has always been my passion. I am always around and willing to help, so feel free to stop by.
Nick Graham

Nicholas Graham, Centennial Hall

My name is Nicholas Graham, and I'm a 19 year old junior at WCSU/ I'm a Secondary Education major with a concentration in English. My hobbies include playing music in the WestConn area and near my home in Milford, CT. I was the vice president of Centennial Hall Council last year, and continue to strive for a better community at our school through creating unique programs by utlizing beneficial organizations such as I.R.H.A. and the GROW program. As an aspiring teacher, I look at this position as an opportunity to enlighten the new students in their academic career and extracurricular activities, pointing them in a successful direction. I wish alls students a wonderful year and future at Western Connecticut State University.
Shannon McDonald

Shannon McDonald, Grasso Hall

My name is Shannon McDonald and I am from Milford, CT. I am a junior at CSU and major in History. I hope to attend graduate school for public history in a city like Boston or New York once completed with my bachelor's degree. My long term goal is to work in historic preservation or work at a university. I decided to apply to the ARM position because it appealed to my goal in college to have success in my academics while still having the experience of residence life and living on my own. I want to help students like me (who live in a residence hall and are fulltime) have a rewarding and prosperous academic life in such a lively social atmosphere. It also appeals to me because while I can help people who need academic support, I can also learn new study skills and ideas from my peers that will positively influence my college experience. When I'm not studying, I like to go to the gym, swim, go to the movies, go out to dinner and spend time with friends and family. Someday I hope to travel to the places I currently study.
Jordan Orfitelli

Jordan Orfitelli, Fairfield Hall

Hi! My name is Jordan and I am the ARM in Fairfield Hall this year. I am a senior majoring in Anthropology/Sociology and I have minors in History and International Studies. After I graduate I plan on working in a museum or somewhere else in the public history field. I transferred to WCSU during my sophomore year and I have loved it ever since.

Flavia Quaglia, Newbury Hall

I'm a sophomore and a first year nursing student. I was born in Campinas, Brazil. I'm all about having fun but keeping my priorities straight. Hand it not been for my Resident Director pushing me to apply for this job, I wouldn't be here right now telling you that I'm here to help, and my door will always be open.
