Academic Resource Mentors (A.R.M)

Academic resource mentors are student peers who play an integral role in the establishment of an academic environment in the residence halls. They are an essential component of the CULTURE program for the Department of Housing and Residence Life. In addition to providing programming in the residence halls, ARM's are available to residents as an academic resource, assisting them in obtaining information, and providing resources about majors and academic programs at the University. The ARM's also guide residents through any issues they may have academically, providing them with a wealth of information on study skills or people that can help them. Finally, the ARM's also work with Peer Academic Support System members to make sure the residents get the help that they need to succeed at WestConn.

To be eligible to apply for a position, you must:

1.         Be in good academic standing at the University and have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or greater.  You must also be in good judicial standing.

2.         A completed application form should be returned to Housing and Residence Life Office as soon as possible.  Arm Application

3.         The Group Process has already taken place, and interviews will be scheduled as needed.  Arm Timeline

4.                   You must have two letters of recommendation.  It is suggested to give one of the recommendation letters, provided in this packet, to a ResLife staff member (RA or other Housing and Residence Life member, but NOT a RD) and the other one to whomever is acquainted with your work and/or leadership qualities.  It is not recommended that these letters come from family members.  Letters must be signed by the applicant before they are given to the reference.  Please inform the people recommending you; these forms should be placed in a sealed envelope with their signature across the seal.  Recommendations are the responsibility of the candidate, not the reference, and are due back to Housing and Residence Life as soon as possible.  An application is not considered complete without both letters of recommendation.   Arm Recommendation Letter
