The
WCSU Office of AccessAbility Services is accepting resumes for the
position of University Assistant - Learning Specialist with an
anticipated start date in mid-August. This is a part-time position – 19
hours per week.
Responsibilities include:
providing one-on-one writing assistance to students with disabilities;
coordinating alternate media services; researching, developing, and
implementing training modules for students using assistive technology;
providing academic coaching and tutoring to students in one-on-one and
group settings on topics such as time management, organization, exam
preparation, and test-taking skills; and overseeing student employees.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Special
Education, with a concentration in English or Bachelor’s degree in
English, Communications, Journalism or other related major is required.
A Master’s degree in Special Education or related field is preferred.
Two years of experience working with high school or college students
with disabilities is required. Demonstrated experience with computer
applications including Microsoft Office Suite with particular strength
and knowledge of Excel is required. Appropriate knowledge of grammar,
punctuation, bibliography formats, outline development, and components
of research and creative writing assignments is also required.
Comprehensive knowledge of
learning and assistive technologies such as Kurzweil, Smart Pens, Open
Book, Smart Phone Applications, etc. is preferred. As WCSU is a

people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures is highly valued.
Pay Range:
$20.00 - $25.00 (based on experience and qualifications)
