The Department of Art at Western Connecticut State
University (WCSU) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced artist and
educator to fill a tenure-track appointment in the area of Illustration.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate
illustration courses, including both traditional and digital processes.
Additional responsibilities depend on candidate’s areas of expertise and
department needs. The successful candidate must maintain an active
program of research/scholarly and/or creative activities as well as
build and maintain professional relationships with regional and national
artists and arts educators. The selected candidate is expected to
participate in appropriate department, university and professional
service.
Qualifications:
An MFA in Illustration or other relevant
field is required at the time of appointment. One or more of the earned
degrees must be in illustration, and the candidate must possess
proficiency in both traditional and digital processes.
At least two-three years of
college teaching experience is required.
The successful candidate must
demonstrate professional level artistry in the area of illustration and
have significant exposure through exhibition and/or
publication. As WCSU is a dynamic, diverse workplace, the proven ability
to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and
cultures is highly valued. Excellent written and oral communication
skills are required.

The School of Visual and Performing Arts
