The Department of Art at Western Connecticut State
University (WCSU) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced artist and
educator to fill a tenure-track appointment in the area of Photography.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in
photography, including both traditional and digital processes.
Additional responsibilities depend on the candidate’s areas of expertise
and department needs. The successful candidate must maintain an active
program of research/scholarly and/or creative activities as well as
build and maintain professional relationships with regional and national
artists and arts educators. He/she
is expected to participate in appropriate department, university
and professional service.
Qualifications:
An MFA in Photography or other relevant
field is required at the time of appointment. One or more of the earned
degrees must be in photography, and the candidate must possess
proficiency in both traditional and digital processes.
Applicants must have at least
two-three years of college teaching experience and
must demonstrate evidence of at least five
years of broad, ongoing professional level experience in the area of
photography and have significant exposure through
publication. As WCSU is a dynamic, diverse workplace, the proven ability
to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and
cultures is highly valued, and excellent written and oral communication
skills are required.

the Bachelor of Arts in Art and the MFA in Painting and Illustration
within a liberal arts environment. The areas of concentration are
graphic design, illustration, photography and studio arts; comprised of
painting and sculpture.
The School of Visual and Performing Arts
(SVPA) (www.wcsu.edu/svpa)
broke ground on a new $97 million
visual and performing arts center in October of 2011, scheduled for
completion in the summer of 2014.
