Assistant Professor - Media Arts

Tenure Track

The Department of Communication at Western Connecticut State University seeks a tenure-track, Assistant Professor to teach basic and advanced courses in mass communication/media studies.  The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester, in addition to providing academic advising and service to the department, university, and profession.

 Qualifications: Ability to teach fundamentals of communication study, theory and research methods is required, as is depth in some combination of media studies:  mass communication, media and culture, and/or mediated interpersonal communication.   Ability to teach interpersonal/group communication is a plus.  Demonstrated teaching excellence is a must.  Scholarship level appropriate to experience required, as well as evidence of a commitment to university service is required. Ph.D. in Communication or highly-related field required, but will consider ABD near completion.  Ph.D. must be in hand by August 20, 2012.
