The
graduate thesis exhibit of the Master of Fine Arts degree recipients
in painting and illustration will open Tuesday, June 21, in New York
City’s Chelsea district at the Blue Mountain Gallery and will
officially open with a reception on Thursday, June 23, from 5 to 8
p.m.
The Master of Fine Arts is the terminal degree for practicing
artists, and the thesis exhibit is the capstone experience of that
program, demonstrating a personal direction and mastery in the work
of graduating artists.
This year 10 M.F.A. students — seven painters and three illustrators
— have a wide variety of philosophies and approaches. The painters
include Isabelle Day, Kevin Dunn, Doug Friday, Mark Kuchta, Alison
Targett-Eaglin, Eileen Tavolacci and Sarah Wright. Illustrators are
Thomas A. Dowell Jr., Tiffany Raccio and Bonnie Rose Sullivan.
The exhibit runs to July 9 at the Blue Mountain Gallery Tuesdays
through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The gallery is at 530 W.
25th St., Fourth Floor in New York City.
