The
blazing red “Leave Your Mark” message to graduates on posters around
campus this spring has been plain and simple: remember Western by
stepping up with a donation toward the Senior Class Gift. The motto
was the brainchild of seniors Bianca Lucchesi and David Greiner,
chairs of the Class Gift effort. The Committee: Ethan Breitling,
Brittany Leandra, Shanelle McCall, Jasmin Noel and Lauren Post, and
Honorary Committee Members: Susan Donnelly, Matthew Donofrio,
Onilda Figueroa, Amanda Forker, Blake Irving and Danielle King
spearheaded Class Gift events.
At one event, seniors donated to the Class Gift and
left their special mark on personally decorated cupcakes, raising
$225 for the Scholarship Fund. Many thanks are extended to Cupcakes
& Milkshakes of Bethel, Stop & Shop, and Big Y for making this event
possible. To date, the Class of 2011 has donated more than $1,000.
Getting into the habit of giving back not only leaves
a legacy, but creates a foundation for students in need of financial
support. Graduates are asked to give what they can, and a
fitting $20.11 supports the scholarship fund established by
prospective alumni each year, although any amount is welcomed and
appreciated. For more information, contact Cathy Cote in the
