Windows Automatic Updates
Windows Vista / 7 instructions

Click Start
-
Right click “Computer”

Click Properties

Click Windows Update on the bottom left of the new window.

Click Change Settings in the menu on the left.

Verify your computer is set to install updates automatically.

Windows XP instructions

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Performance and Maintenance.
Note: If the Performance and Maintenance category is not visible, click Switch to Category View.

Click System.

Click Automatic Updates and then select Keep my computer up to date.

Select a setting. Microsoft recommends selecting Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify and setting a daily update. The time you select can be whatever is most convenient.

Click OK. You're all set now to receive future critical updates.

You should now go right away to the Windows Update web site at update.microsoft.com and install any critical updates that your computer requires.
- Automatic Updates will take care of future critical updates, but you should still visit the Windows Update site on a regular basis so you can get high priority and optional updates for your computer.
Windows 2000 and Windows Millenium Instructions

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
