The Home tab, viewable by all users, is the main tab in WestConnduit. It contains these channels by default:
- Personal Announcements – important announcements that are targeted to you
- Campus Announcements – important announcements that are targeted to the entire university community
- WestConn Events – list of events happening on campus

AOL users should connect to the Internet using AOL and then use Internet Explorer or Netscape for access. The AOL browser is problematic with WestConnduit.

Your session will time out for security reasons-- if you walk away from your workstation or forget to logout, you will be logged out automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Students/Faculty/Staff:
You will not need to request a separate account. Your WestConnduit account uses your Windows username and your Banner 6 digit PIN.

You can reset your password from the Westconnduit logon screen. Click on the Reset Your Password link and follow the instructions.
You may also visit any of the staffed computer labs on either campus to have your password reset.

There are a number of reasons this could happen:
Go back and retype both your username and password, being very careful to type both correctly.
- If you continue to have problems logging in, it is possible that your account has been disabled. Please contact the Help Desk at 203-837-8467 for assistance.
If you continue to have problems logging in, try resetting your password. Click on the Reset Your Password link on the Westconnduit logon screen.

Click on the Academic Tools tab. In the Blackboard Vista section of that page is a link to login to your account.

Popup Killer/Blocker software may be installed on the computer. The Popup Killer/Blocker considers the Blackboard Vista window a popup and immediately closes it. Disable the Popup Killer/Blocker program.

- It provides anywhere, anytime access to these key resources - as long as you have access to the Internet, you can get to WestConnduit
- It also provides targeted, up-to-the-minute information, including personal announcements so that you see information that applies only to you, eliminating e-mail clutter
When you log in to WestConnduit, you will see different tabs depending on your role on campus. The tabs are divided into channels that contain links to WCSU internet resources or services. There are three types of channels:
- Mandatory - these channels are placed in a certain location on a tab and cannot be removed (the remove button will be grayed out)
- Opt-out - these channels are placed on a tab and can be removed by clicking on the X in the upper-right corner of the channel
- Opt-in - these channels are not placed on a tab, but can be added to any tab by accessing the Content/Layout screen

In most cases, when you click on a link in WestConnduit, it will open up an additional window on the screen, keeping your Westconnduit session open in the background. When you are through reading the information in the window, simply close the window via the close box in the upper right corner of the window. This will return you to the WestConnduit window.

The Banner tab provides direct access to Banner Self-Serve.
Students - a quick link to register for classes, check final grades, view academic transcripts, your financial aid records and more
Faculty – a quick link to class lists, student information, grades and more.

The Academics Tools Tab is viewable by faculty and students and provides access to Blackboard Vista courses as well as other academic resources.

The My Tab (viewable by all users) is a tab that you can fully customize with channels that you want to see. It does contain some channels that may be of interest to you, but all are opt-out, meaning they can be removed so that you can customize the tab. This tab contains the following channels by default:
- My Tab - Welcome – information on customizing tabs and channels
- Channel Guide – a detailed listing of all the channels available in WestConnduit
- Technology Resources - quick links to the technology offered on campus
- My Headlines -links to top stories of interest
- The Channer Browser - browse the complete list of channels and 'pin' your favorite ones to "My Tab".

The Tutorial tab provides an overview of the features and functionality of WestConnduit.

To access your WCSU e-mail from within WestConnduit, click on the e-mail button in the upper right corner of the screen. This button is visible regardless of which WestConnduit page is active.

All WestConnduit users play ‘roles’ on campus. Many users play more than one role. Based on these 'roles', announcements can be specifically target to these designated groups.

Click on the Logout button in the upper right corner of the screen. This button is visible regardless of which WestConnduit page is active. For security reasons it is very important to logout when you are finished using WestConnduit. If you leave yourself logged in, others can access a great deal of personal information about you.

A Windows account is needed in order to log into the WestConn's Network and use the resources available. To obtain your Windows account, you may visit any of the staffed computer centers on campus:
- Student Technology Training Center, located in room 225 of the Student Center.
- Midtown Computer Center, located in the main level of the Ruth Haas Library.
- Westside Computer Center, located in room 117 of the Westside Classroom Building.
- Campus Center Computer Center (C4, located on the third floor of the Westside Campus Center.
You must bring your WestConnect card with you for identification purposes.
