End User Workshop Summaries
The following are summaries of the workshops that University Computing will be offering. Please click on the workshop title for the date and time of the session.
Introduction to Word
This workshop will demonstrate the basics of using Word. Topics
include document, text, and paragraph formatting, creating tables,
spell and grammar check, and viewing and printing options.
Introduction to
Excel
This workshop will cover the basics of
using Excel to create a spreadsheet by creating formulas, using
functions, and formatting worksheets.
Introduction to PowerPoint
Learn the basics of organizing your thoughts to plan an effective
presentation. Topics include creating slides with templates, text
and animated transitions, inserting clip art and graphics.
Using Animation in PowerPoint
This workshop focuses on the animation feature in PowerPoint. Add
flare to your presentation by adding animated techniques to your
slides. This
course requires a basic knowledge of MS PowerPoint.
Introduction to Publisher
This workshop will help you create
distinctive and professional looking publications, such as
newsletters, booklets, brochures, programs, catalogues, flyers,
signs, etc.).
Introduction to FrontPage
This workshop will teach you how to build a web site quick and easy.
FrontPage lets you skip the tedium of creating your web pages
directly in HTML (HyperText Markup Language), the web's underlying
language. Instead, you use menus and commands similar to those found
in Microsoft's other applications, such as Word, Excel and
PowerPoint.
Special Features of Word
This workshop will focus on
some of the more useful tools and features users can take advantage
of in Word. Some of the topics that will be covered include: table
creation, tracking changes, bullets & numbering, headers & footers,
autocorrect, customizing the ruler, and inserting graphics.
This
course requires a basic knowledge of MS Word.
Introduction to Mail Merge Using Word
Learn how to create form letters,
envelopes and mailing labels from a list of names and addresses. This
course requires a basic knowledge of MS Word.
Excel

Beyond the Basics
This workshop will explore beyond
the basics of Excel. Some of the topics include: formatting cells,
arranging windows, creating graphs/charts, adding headers and
footers, and printing options. This
course requires a basic knowledge of MS Excel.
Helpsheets are also available on a variety of applications to help you get started.
