WestConn proudly offers the following degree programs through the Music Department.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Music
    The Bachelor of Arts in Music degree is designed for students who wish a broad, liberal arts education with an emphasis in music. The BA degree is perfect for those who love music and have a desire to pursue careers in music-related fields such as music retail, arts management, sound design, and stage management. Students wishing to pursue this degree program must first be admitted by audition.
  • Bachelor of Science in Music Education
    The Music Education program at Western has long been regarded as the finest such program in Connecticut and in the tri-state area. A majority of music educators working in the state graduated with a BS degree from WCSU. The Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree program is designed for students wishing to pursue a career as a music educator (primary and secondary). Students wishing to pursue this degree must first be admitted by audition.
  • Bachelor of Music in Performance
    The Bachelor of Music in Performance degree program is designed for students wishing to pursue a career as a professional musician and/or in higher education (college or university level teaching). Since the level of musicianship in this field is extremely high, only highly advanced students will be admitted into this program. Students wishing to pursue this degree program must first be admitted by audition.
  • Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies
    The Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies degree program is designed for students wishing to pursue a career as a professional commercial musician and/or in higher education (college or university level teaching). Since the level of musicianship in this field is extremely high, only highly advanced students will be admitted into this program. Students wishing to pursue this degree program must first be admitted by audition.
  • Master of Science in Music Education
    The Master of Science in Music Education is designed with the working professional educator in mind. Designed to be completed in evenings and summers, the MS at Western is a perfect choice for teachers wishing to pursue their MS degree and continue to hold their current teaching job.
