World Music in the Classroom

Matilda Giampietro has been teaching music and movement at Washington Montessori School for 26 years.  She has given the teacher training program in Montessori Music at the Center for Montessori Teacher Education for 20 years.  Matilda has presented many workshops on Music and Movement for Montessori Schools (New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Florida), Early Childhood Conferences, Montessori teacher training programs (New York, Arizona, New Jersey), and Orff Schulwerk workshops.   In 1996 she was a music presenter at the International Montessori Conference in Rome.  She is a soprano, performing Medieval and Renaissance music and dance with The Everyman Guild.  Matilda has served on the Board of the Connecticut Orff Schulwerk Association for 10 years, 2 years as vice president.  She also serves on the Board of the Connecticut Elementary General Music Conference.

Matilda is a sought-after clinician, and greatly enjoys spending a day (or more) teaching Montessori Music materials, songs, singing games and dances.  Her work involves helping people find, explore, develop and enjoy their own musical abilities through singing and dancing together, which build and sustain the human community.
