Andrew P. Lafreniere
Adjunct Instructor of Music Andrew Lafreniere received an M.M. in classical guitar performance from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford in 1985. He has studied with Alexander Bellow, Richard Provost, Alan Spriestersbach and Oscar Ghighlia. He has participated in master classes taught by Manuel Barrueco, Oscar Ghighlia, Michael Lorimer and Robert Strizich. From 1977 to 1987, Andrew performed with the group Solstice that was an eclectic acoustic ensemble, which garnered positive reviews for the original compositions and performances it gave at various venues including Lincoln Center. From 1987 to the present, Mr. Lafreniere has been the director of the Suzuki Talent Education School of Sandy Hook, CT. He is on the Suzuki Association of the Americas guitar development committee that is part of a worldwide organization that is researching and developing the guitar literature for the Suzuki Method. Mr. Lafreniere is a frequent guest clinician at Suzuki Institutes held throughout the U.S. He is also on the Faculty of Western Connecticut State University. Andrew has been the Classical guitar instructor at Western Connecticut State University since 1998.
