Dr. Cory Ganschow

Dr. Cory Ganschow is Assistant Professor of Music at Western Connecticut University and will begin teaching courses in music education and choral music this fall.

Previously, as a choral director in the public schools, Ganschow led her choirs to numerous awards at state and national competitions. Most recently, she served as an Instructor of Music Education and Choral Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. Ganschow is also extremely active as a clinician for secondary school choral programs as well as a facilitator of urban outreach, summer music programs in Kansas City.

In addition to being an adjudicator and clinician, Ganschow sings professionally in the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers and Spire Chamber Choir. She is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, College Music Society, National Association for Music Education, and the Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society. She has also served as the Director of Music Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church in Kansas City.

Ganschow is an emerging researcher in the field of choral rehearsal approaches, aesthetic response, and conductor efficacy and has presented her research at state, regional, and national conventions. Her interests also include examination of choral repertoire selection, and as a part of her research, Ganschow serves as an editor and head of public relations for the Kansas City Music Publishing Company.

Ganschow holds a Ph.D in Music Education and Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, a Master’s Degree in Choral Music Education from Illinois State University and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Millikin University where she studied conducting with Dr. Brad Holmes.
