Dr. Cory Ganschow

Dr. Cory Ganschow is Assistant Professor of Music at Western Connecticut University where she serves as Coordinator of Music Education and teaches classes in secondary music education as well as supervises student teachers. Ganschow also conducts the Concert Choir.  She is extremely active as an adjudicator and clinician for secondary school choral programs and honor choirs on the east coast.

Previously, as a choral director in the public schools, Ganschow led her choirs to numerous awards at state and national competitions. Before coming to WCSU, she served as an Instructor of Music Education and Choral Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance where she also acted as a facilitator of urban outreach, summer music programs in Kansas City.

In addition to her roles as a conductor and educator, Ganschow has sung professionally in the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers, Collegium Vocale, Te Deum, and Spire Chamber Choir.  She is an emerging researcher in the field of choral rehearsal approaches, aesthetic response, and conductor-educator efficacy and has published her research in National journals and presented at state, regional, and national conventions.

Ganschow is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, College Music Society, National Association for Music Education, and the Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society.

Ganschow holds a Ph.D in Music Education and Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, a Master’s Degree in Choral Music Education from Illinois State University and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Millikin University where she studied conducting with Dr. Brad Holmes.
