David Noland

Dave is a freelance saxophonist, woodwind specialist, composer, arranger living in New York City.After completing a master’s degree in music from New Jersey City University in 2004, Dave began touring nationally and internationally with various Broadway productions including 42nd Street, Chita Rivera, and Disney’s On the Record.  Since then, Dave has found a home within the versatile music scene in New York City.  He has recorded as a sideman with various television shows (Smash, Regis and Kelli, ABC News Nightline, 2010 Tony Awards), notable musicians (Hillary Kole, Don Sebesky, Dave Stahl), and has recorded numerous  cast albums.  He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Long Island Philharmonic and New Jersey Symphony and has also performed within the bands of Michael Feinstein, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks.  Most notably, Dave has been a member of four Broadway orchestras including Leap of Faith, Follies, and Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away in which Dave was a featured soloist and assistant music director.  Currently, Dave is a member of the orchestra for the hit revival of Annie, performing at the Palace theatre.

Dave is also an active soloist and performer with bands featuring his own compositions.  In 2011, Dave was a featured performer at the San Angelo Cactus Jazz Series.  His debut recording, Nomad, released in 2006 on the Jazz Excursions record label, features a number of these compositions.

Noland has shrewdly compiled a series of pieces that effectively highlight the versatility of his saxophone playing, from Hard Bop aggressiveness to standards to swaying, low-key waltzes to ballads.”
Dave has been a member of the woodwind faculty at WCSU since 2010.
