Featuring The Cedar Walton Quartet and Jimmy Heath with the WCSU Jazz Orchestra.

Don’t miss the annual WestConn Jazz Festival, featuring The USAF Airmen of Note, The Cedar Walton Quartet and Jimmy Heath with the WCSU Jazz Orchestra. In addition, over 50 middle school, high school, and college jazz ensembles and combos will perform.

Each participating ensemble will perform a 20 - 25 minute set followed by a 30-minute clinic. Each ensemble will receive constructive feedback from outstanding professional jazz artists including, Jimmy Greene, John Mastroiani, Laurie Frink,  Rock Ciccarone, Jeff Helmer, D.D. Jackson, Andrew Beals,  Peter Tomlinson, Dave Scott, Chris Morrison, Dave Ruffels, and Jeff Siegel. L

On Friday, April 25 Jimmy Heath will present a clinic covering his years of experience as a legendary jazz saxophonist and composer, followed by a performance with the WCSU Jazz Orchestra that evening. In addition, the legendary USAF Airmen of Note will present a special concert and a series of clinics in the afternoon.

On Saturday, April 26 Cedar Walton will present a special clinic of his own, followed by a concert with his quartet.

Outstanding performers selected by the clinicians from each ensemble will be awarded scholarships to the WCSU Summer Music Camp.
