WCSU lecture: ‘The Good Life: Ethics and Identity in Ancient Greece’

DANBURY, CONN. — What was the meaning of life for the Ancient Greeks? How did the Ancient Greeks conceive of happiness? Is our society becoming “Greek” once more?

These questions will be explored in “The Good Life: Ethics and Identity in Ancient Greece,” a lecture hosted by Western Connecticut State University and presented by Marcello Kilani at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. Kilani, a Dean’s Fellow at The New School for Social Research completing a Ph.D. in Philosophy, is the 2016 Macricostas Professor of Hellenic Studies at Western.

The one-hour talk will be held in the Student Center Theater on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Hosted by the WCSU Center for Culture and Values, the lecture is free and the public is invited. It is funded by a grant from the foundation of Brookfield industrialist and philanthropist Constantine “Deno” Macricostas and his wife Marie.
